Oslo CS Host
It is Oksana in the picture. She comes from Ukraine and lives in Norway. She is my CS Host in Oslo, the capital of Norway.
The little accessories show the experiences and characteristics of the person in the picture. Oksana wears her headset with her PC in the picture. Those IT objects affect her fate deeply.
The white background doesn’t need to be painted and it is super time-saving. The attention can be focused on the person.
Oksana was born in the decade of 1980’. Her experience shows the history of modern Ukraine.
Oksana was born in a little town in Ukraine. Her grand-parents is farmers and her parents live in town. Oksana and her siblings would visit their grand-parents in the country and helping in farms in summer holiday.
I live in a high-rise building all my life in urban Hong Kong and always has a fantasy about country life. I am so envy that Oksana has a chance to live in the country and has experience on farms. But Oksana spurns and said she doesn’t want to be a farmer again. She said life on farm is hard. There are lots of farmers die young. Her grand-parents are just 60 something but look like 80 something with wrinkles like pits on their faces.
I am surprise. I have experiences on farm but they were just 1-2 hours farming workshop. I just remember the veges are super sweet when they are freshly harvested and I have a peaceful mind in the arms of nature. I have never slept overnight in a cottage without water nor electricity. I have never gotten up at dark just to harvest the veges in coldness. It would really be a hard life if it is a daily routine. I still have a fantasy on country life because I paid to ‘experience’ and to ‘buy’ the most comfortable hours on a farm. I was a ‘tourist’ to enjoy the farm but the farmers have to work on farm to ‘earn’ their life. I have never put myself in a position of a farmer but Oksana’s reaction makes me see the other side of the world. I am in Norway but I see the hardship and bitterness of the Ukrainian farmers and even introspect my naïve impression of farms in Hong Kong. Traveling is really a journey expect the unexpected!
Oksana has her childhood and maiden days in Ukraine. Actually she is an IT genius. She got a scholarship that changed her fate in high school. She left her homeland alone to USA and obtained an IT degree with the scholarship. She went to Spain for a master degree in IT after graduation. But she couldn’t find a job because Spain had a high unemployment rate. Oksana went back to Ukraine and got a job in an IT company in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. She just transferred to Oslo by that IT company so she moved to Norway.
From the poorest Ukraine to the richest Norway, Oksana frankly admits she is ‘very exciting’. Her life is a story of ‘knowledge changes fate’.
I have two CS Hosts in Oslo in my original plan. One is Oksana and the other is Jonathan. Jonathan is from Norway and the comments he got in CS website are all positive. The CS Surfers who were hosted by him said he is a ‘gentleman’, or even ‘angel’. It’s just too positive that seems not real. I contact him and he agrees to host me.
I stay with Oksana for 4 nights then stay with Jonathan for 2 nights in my original plan. But suddenly I felt timid and it does not seem good for a lone female traveller to stay overnight in a male host home. So I ask Oksana if I can stay with her for two more nights.
Oksana asks me why and I just say the truth. She spurns and said, ‘I stay with male hosts ALL the time when I were travelling in Europe,’ But she still kindly accepts my unexpected request and let me stay at her home for two more nights. Her attitude drops to super cold immediately. She doesn’t waste time to look at me and just casually said ‘Bye’ and quickly shut the door in my last day in Oslo.
I still own Oksana a big thank you. It’s my fault to change the original plan suddenly and she is generous enough to host me for two more nights.
Although it isn’t a good feeling to see a hatred face all the day under the same roof but I know this hatred face has a time limit and surprisingly I can squeeze out a smiley face to confront her hatred face every time. Human is really an adaptable specie. I believe I can get along with ANY nasty, stupid, cruel bosses in the future after this several days intensive training on confronting hatred…
I see lots of opera in Oslo again. The Oslo Opera House has a beautiful outlook and its production is super-good!
There are standing tickets in Oslo Opera House and they are cheap compare to everything-expensive-Norway. I saw The Barber of Seville, Don Giovanni and Káťa Kabanová. There are English subtitles and they are easy to follow. The singing are beautiful. There are native Norwegian element in classic opera script: the young lovers run away on BOAT (with a Norway national flag), a common transport for the originated-pirate Norwegians, but not on CAR. It’s so cool to see a prefect mix between traditional and native style!
