Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum

Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum

Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum is one of the 'Golden Triangle of Art' Museums in Madrid. It is a private museum with a collection from ancient to modern.

I am most happy to see Edward Hopper’s ‘Hotel Room’ (See below). Edward Hopper is an American artist. He is good in drawing the solitude and loneliness in the city.

I was an exchanged student in USA and I knew there was an Edward Hopper exhibition when I was visiting a museum. But I thought the exhibition price is expensive so I didn’t go in.

I once got a chance to see Edward Hopper but I didn’t treasure the opportunity. Now the drawings is in front of me and I definitely would have a good look!

‘Hotel Room’ is just like Edward Hopper signature style. Quiet picture with a great emotion. The color is bright but the mood is dark.

Bright color + Big contrast. Tiredness, loneliness, suppress burst out between light and dark.

Edward Hopper’s painting always like ‘The last straw to break the camel’s back’. He grabs the quietness before explosion and solidifies it into eternal.

And the beautiful bonita Giovanna. The ‘Portrait of Giovanna Tornabuoni’ (See below) was drawn by Italian Renaissance painter Domenico Ghirlandaio.

Giovanna died of giving birth in the same year that this painting was finished.

I forgot where I saw the beautiful bonita Giovanna. But it is always happy to see something familiar in the museum. Always impressed the most.

An exhibition about western America, ‘The Fantastic Far West’, was shown in Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum too.

Um…What’s the meaning of the black hand mark on the chief’s face~?
