CS Host Sonia

I couldn’t get along with my first CS Host Belen in Madrid. So I was going to stay with another CS Host Sonia.

I escaped from Belen late at night. Sonia said she was having dinner with her friend in a restaurant. I had to find the restaurant and met her by myself.

I was dragging my big luggage and escaped from Belen’s home. I rode on the metro and finding the restaurant at night in Madrid. It was dark and I was nervous and I LOST! But I thought to myself, ‘I can’t ask Sonia to pick me up. I have to find the way myself,’

Good person appeared when I was lost. I just asked the way from a nearby lady. She was very kind to take me to the restaurant after a non-communicating English-Spanish conversation.

I found the restaurant and thanks very much to that kind Spanish lady!

Sonia and her friend are in the restaurant. I ordered an egg omelet tapas. We finished the food and went home straight to bed, even without shower.

I slept on the air bed in the living room. But it was cold. I pulled out all my clothes from my big luggage and put them on the air bed. Warm enough for me to sleep.

Sonia was working in social welfare. She was preparing for her professional qualification exam. She was working in day and studying at night. And she was super busy. But she still remembered our hosting promise MONTHS ago, thanks so much!

Next day I have to get up early and leave in the morning with Sonia. I was wandering on streets and wow, Spanish boys are handsome!

I was hiding behind bushes in the park and keep taking photos. How can a normal passing-by walk like a supermodel on runway!?

It is correct that Men are handsome in Southern Europe and Women are pretty in Northern Europe. (Smile)

Sonia invited her friend, Jose for dinner at home in the next night. And Sonia was cooking ‘rice’ for me. But the ‘rice’ is a mixture of green bean, yellow bean and barley. It was souvenir form Tai Wan. Actually we both didn’t enjoy much of that watery mixture ‘rice’ but we have great fun:)

We started cooking at 11pm and eat our dinner at midnight. Sonia said it was a common time for dinner in Spain, amazing!

Jose loves the camera. He was OK to jump up and down for a good shoot. Thanks so much for your effort, Supermodel Jose!

I started to draw the above drawing at 1AM and I had to catch a plane to Abu Dhabi at 6AM next morning…

Although the drawing time was rush but I like this drawing very much:)

That was my first attempt imitating Picasso. It was no different for Picasso to have a beautiful model or an ugly model. The human form was disintegrated under his brushes anyway…

The Picasso-style was surprisingly easy to follow. I kept the form for a face and crooked the eyes and compressed 3 dimension into 2 dimension.

Picasso was of course even more progressive. He broke down and re-form human figure. But it had no fun copying Picasso 100%. Copying 30% of him and interweave 70% my own style would be the most fun!

This drawing continuous the colourful style of ‘Picture the Host’ project. The colour rainbow background was actually a colourful cloth on Sonia’s sofa. It was a perfect color match on paper!

The Spanish people love Picasso. Sonia didn’t mind her face was drawn crooked, she loves this Picasso style. Picasso really has a great influence in Spanish art!
