The Tabacalera Building
La Tabacalera is in the city heart of Madrid and right next to the Embajadores metro stop.
It was a Tabaco factory and it is a modern art center now.
I was amazed by the graffiti wall which surrounded the Tabaco factory before I even stepped inside. Huge graffiti paintings covered the wall. Each graffiti paintings were nearly 3mX3m included portrait, animals, abstract…ANYTHING.
Graffiti covered every walls inside the Tabaco factory. And lots of installation art such as Geometry Iron gate, an old basket upcycled into a chic dance-floor lamp and face which made up of old clothes…etc
The creativity energy is amazing.
A small city farm with green harvestings was in the Tabaco factory.
People came to the Tabaco factory to practice hula circle too.
Tabaco factory has a big indoor space (big as a football field) and lots of events were held there such as boxing games, music evenings, film screenings… it’s a pity that I couldn’t attend those interesting activities because I just stay a few days in Madrid…
The Tabaco factory was free entry. Every people are welcome. I was stopped by a research student who said she came from USA. She wanted me to help with a questionnaire. Her research topic is the Tabaco factory. Wow, even people far from the US knew here!
The Tabaco factory are featuring in street art and the museums are featuring in classic art.
Madrid really is an interesting city!
