Good Food in Dubai
杜拜的CS Host Bouchra與埃及朋友Hisham帶我來到糖果店，嗜甜的阿拉伯人與香港人一樣，都有「糖水舖／甜品店」，整間店只賣甜食。
The Arabs really love sweets!!
Arab sweets are so delicious…
My CS Host in Dubai is Bouchra. She and her Egyptian friend Hisham brought me to a sweets canteen.
The Arabs have a sweet teeth just like Hong Kong people. Sweets canteen which sell sweets solely are common in Dubai just like Hong Kong.
We came to ‘Feras Sweets’ which is an old sweets canteen established in 1984. We saw the semi-open kitchen when we walked into the canteen. A couple of circle tin trays were put on the oven to keep the sweets warm. They all look delicious!
My favourite is caramel with cheese. The caramel is crispy and the cheese is warm, soft and delicious!!
Cheese is the best supporting actor in Arab sweets. Another type of Arab sweets is with cheese too. But with a soft cake surface instead of a crispy caramel top. And that is yummy too!
Nuts are common in Arab sweets. The pastry of the Pistachio tart is a bit oily for me but the pistachio+ peanut+honey fillings are super yummy!
And I tried ‘Milk Rice’ (cold) too. That’s a bit strange for me. Just dead sweet. The combination of milk and rice is difficult to appreciate…
We dined in restaurant too! The desert is a sweet pie. Cheese was filled inside the ‘pizza’ with caramel+pistachio+pineapple on top. Not a usual combination but the taste was good!
The same ‘pizza’ can be salty. Meat replaced cheese and eat with sauce, also delicious!
No need to worry about souvenir in Dubai. AUE has the best quality dates. Dates covered with black/white chocolate are cheap and delicious. And they are the best choice of souvenir. Dates with chocolate can be found in local supermarket or mini-store. Don’t buy them in the overpricing airport!
